Keto Ice Cream Bars Recipe (Easy & Delicious)

People who are eating keto for weight loss focus on foods that are low-carb and do not raise their blood sugar levels. However, one of the biggest complaints that people have about eating keto is the high cost of keto snacks and treats.

Guess what? Many goodies can be made at home!

Is it Easy to Make Keto Ice Cream Bars at Home?

A great way to save money and control what goes into your treats is to make your own food. Yes, this includes ice cream bars!

Making your own keto ice cream bars is as simple as following a recipe.

When you create your snacks in your home you can be certain to use natural sweeteners, make flavors you are sure to love, and control the total carbs in the product.

To make ice cream bars or popsicles at home, you will need to purchase a mold. There are two main styles of molds available on Amazon. In one style the bars you are making will be standing up and in the other, you will lay them down in the freezer. Both work well.

You will also want to purchase food-grade popsicle sticks (or reusable sticks).

Can You Modify the Recipe?

Of course you can modify the recipe! We suggest trying the recipe as written first. For variations you can:

  • Dip the bars in nuts such as peanuts, slivered almonds or pecans.

  • Use a bit of cocoa in the ice cream mixture to give a chocolate ice cream taste.

  • Add peanut butter to the ice cream or chocolate for a different taste.

Are Keto Ice Cream Bars You Can Buy Keto Friendly?

There are many brands of ice cream bars available to purchase when on a keto diet.

  • Breyers Carb Smart Bars: These delicious bars use Sucralose and Maltitol, a sugar alcohol, as sweeteners. Each bar has from 3-5 net carbs and anywhere from 60-150 calories per serving.

  • Enlightened: These sugar-free ice cream bars come in many flavors, including some with a crunchy surprise. Although most of their bars are gluten-free, they do have some (such as brownies and cookie dough) that are not.

  • Halo Top: One of the top names in treats for those counting carbohydrates, their “keto line” has only 2 or 3 net carbs per serving. With flavors like mint chocolate chip, sea salt caramel, and berry swirl, they have a flavor for everyone.

  • Keto Foods: This brand has the word keto right in their name. Selling bars in many flavors, they have both milk and dark chocolate available.

  • So Delicious: Made from coconut milk, sweetened with erythritol and covered with a chocolate coating made with coconut oil and cocoa, these are amazing! You guessed it, this one is dairy-free!

What About Keto Pints of Ice Cream?

The brands listed above all sell pints of ice cream. The danger of buying your keto treats by the pint is you may be tempted to eat more than a serving size portion. Here are two more to check out.

  • Nick’s: Selling Swedish-style ice cream, this brand is worth a look.

  • Rebel: This big name in keto is considered by many people to be the best keto ice cream on the market.

Is it OK to Eat Keto Ice Cream Every Day?

If your goal is weight loss, you are best off not eating a bunch of snacks and treats every day.

However, if you eat low carb and use artificial sweeteners for blood sugar reasons, you can eat them more often without incident.

It is also important to remember that some people have some gastro issues when eating too many artificial sweeteners. For this reason, we suggest treats in moderation.
